This slow moving creek hidden behind industrial North and Northeast Portland is used mostly by people kayaking, canoeing, fishing in addition to offering wild spots for homeless people to camp. It is also not easily accessible since it is located behind truck lots, scrap metal businesses, business parks, trailer parks, dikes, and a prison. Over the new few years, I will be locating access points where I can set up an easel and paint plein air scenes of the slough. I will be getting to know it and the people who fish, kayak and canoe in it. The Columbia Slough Project is about finding and painting landscapes within the city.
