Everything comes from somewhere

I heard yesterday from the gallery director at Walters Cultural Arts Center that a class of Montessori students visited my show of encaustic paintings. They brought sketch pads and spent time using my paintings as inspiration. I loved that. What a wonderful string of connections. These images were first existing sacred sites built by neolithic peoples to honor the land and sky, photographed and studied by my father, painted by me, then drawn by the students. Ideas and images move through the world at an astounding rate and variety. Whatever we think or do, is not independent. We affect the world around us in ways we may never know. Maybe it is enough to know it will happen no matter what.
