Kindred Spirit

For the last few years, ever since I started painting scenes of ancient sacred sites, I have been looking for other artists who are also drawn to those places. Jane Tomlinson is a painter who lives in Oxfordshire, England. I found her while searching through a website for megalithic sites in Britain, The Modern Antiquarian. Her paintings are beautiful and vibrant, and include a vast number of subjects, but I was especially interested in how she portrayed ancient sites. Here is her watercolor painting called All the Kings Men at Rollright. I love the contrast between the dark and dramatic background, and the grey stones in the foreground. It reminds me of my painting of Swinside Circle with the wide format and the stones taking center stage.
