Today, our bnb host Diane Milstein, also a wonderful painter and musician, took us to a juried exhibit at Millfield School in Street, the next town over from Glastonbury. The stand out artist for me was David Brayne, a local artist who paints simple landscapes inspired by the sea and land. I was attracted by the worked over and distressed surface, plus the delicate colors and detail. I also love the shapes he uses, like the rounded boat hulls. They are somewhat childlike and full of wonder at the world. I also enjoy the flatness of his scenes, which give them an abstract quality. To see more of his work visit Davidbrayne.wordpress.com.
